Rake's Corner Map concept

Here's the starting point for the Rake's Corner Map. Each square = 2 inches. There's a canal (blue), and two types of roadways (gray): 3" alleys, and 4" streets with 1" sidewalks on either side (6" together).

Rake's Corner is something like the Five Points. The locals are vicious to each other, so you can just imagine how they treat strangers. The town watch is afraid to patrol there. The lawlessness breeds vice, graft and murder.

Anyhoo-- I'd like to add an open space somewhere, a market square. Where would you want to see it? Just tell me northwest, southeast, something like that. I'll figure out what you mean.

And should I dare to add some angled streets? How important is it that the textures conform to the 1" grid?

Cobblestone Streets Map coming soon

This is a 42" x 60" battle map with irregular streets, the perfect platform to set up a bustling town scene or ruined village. Did you know that I also offer paper models to put on top of this map? Yeah, I bet you did.

Here are some looks at the finished art:

The overall street plan follows this pattern:

Now it's time to start setting up the PDFs. With any luck, this set should be available in time for your weekend game!

Spaceport tiles - sneak peeks

Spaceport Tiles coming soon

Finishing this set now. Ended up with about 50 layers per tile, so there's a really vast number of color combinations and markings possible with just these 3 different tile types.

What you won't find are any walkways or open spaces. These are all utility spaces, really busy with panels and functional-looking stuff. I'll have to create some other tile sets to handle pedestrian and ground vehicle traffic. And probably some more 3D sci-fi models will come along, too.

More work-in-progress shots

Work continues on the Spaceport Tiles set, which should be available later this week.

And another component on the Skimmer gets a base skin. This is the rear part of the thruster, showing some of my design notes and the start of some weathering effects. Eventually I'll add some panels over this.

Texture work on the Crane House of Rake's Corner. Lots of wood and hatches.

Crane House of Rake's Corner work in progress

New model in the works:

This'll be a ready-to-print model suitable for harbors or town scenes. Seemed like a good use of the Tall Hostel/Narrow House shape.

This set takes 4 pages to print at 28mm/30mm scale, will sit on a 3x6 base and comes with the two crates shown. Its footprint is 2.7" x 2.2" and it stands 8.6" high at the chimney.

Halfling Farmhouse in development

One of my projects is a Halfling Farmhouse, seen here before texturing. When I get to this point, I print out the lines on heavy paper and do an assembly test. That's what I'll be doing just as soon as I post this.

Wizard's Shop paper model completed

This is what my experiments with half-hipped roofs led to.

The Wizard's Shop is my latest Rake's Corner model. Works great as a book shop, too. It's ready to print, including 2 crates you can place anywhere. Includes prepared 28mm/30mm and 15mm skins for your convenience. Just $1.95 for your choice of PDF or PSD Photoshop file packs.
